Illustrated in Color with full-page plates by Harold Brett and with Duo-Tone Prints of Scenes from the Photo-Play Produced by Maurice Tourneur at the Studio of Thomas H. Ince. Edited by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey. Madge Bellamy (1899 – 1990) was an American stage and film actress. She was a popular leading lady in the 1920s and early 1930s. Her career declined in the sound era, and ended following a romantic scandal in the 1940s. Bellamy's breakout role was as the title character in the 1922 film adaptation of the 1869 novel Lorna Doone. She thereafter became known as "the exquisite Madge" (Artist Penrhyn Stanlaws later called her "The Most Beautiful Girl in America"), and was cast in several melodramas by Ince. Her autobiography, A Darling of the Twenties, was published one month after her death in 1990. Gilt on spine faded, front endpapers separated, else fine; unmarked, tight, square, and clean. VERY GOOD. Color Plates. Small 4to 9" - 11" tall. 351 pp. Very Good with No dust jacket as issued .

By S H Hammond, Mrs M V Victor, The Author of 'Clifton, Pride and Passion' etc and Colonel Walter B Dunlap Spine label states 'Beadle's Library 7.' and therefore would appear to be a part of a personal collection of publications from Beadles. The titles are as follows: Hunting Adventures in the Northern Wilds by S H Hammond The Emerald Necklace or Mrs Butterby's Boarder by Mrs M V Victor Madge Wylde the Young Mans Ward by The Author of 'Clifton', 'Pride and Passion' etc. The Hunted Life a Story or Startling Adventure in the Far West by Colonel Walter B Dunlap Hunting Adventures in the Northern Wilds is a work on adventures of the wilds of upstate new york and was first published in 1856. The Emerald Necklace was first published as a Beadle dime novel in 1860 and was later published under the title 'A pair of Gray Eyes&apos. It was written by Metta Victoria Fuller Victor, an American novelist credited with writing one of te first detective novels in the United States. She wrote more than 100 dime novels, pioneering the field. Madge Wylde, The Young Mans Ward was written by Arthur Townley, another popular dime novelist. The work was originally published in 1861 as number 17 in Beadle's dime novel series. The Hunted Life A Story, Or Startling Adventure in the Far West is a novel by Sylvanus Cobb Jr under the pseudonym Col. Walter B Dunlap. A Startling Adventure introduced a series of thirty 'forest sketches' published in 1856 and 7. A very scarce collection of works, with none on Copac in this edition. All editions of these works are rare. In a half calf binding with cloth covered boards. Externally, generally smart with small patches of light rubbing to the spine and to the extremities. Rear joint is slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned. Small tide mark to the last few pages to the outer top corner. Does not affect text. Instances of light scattered spots throughout. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
