A leather bound edition of 'A Collection of Poems' edited by Joanna Baillie A collection of the poetry from poets of the nineteenth century. The work is prefaced by a list of subscribers' names, including His Royal Highness the Duke of York. The poem featured include: 'Mac Duff's Cross' by Sir Walter Scott 'Hope and Memory' by The Rev. G Crabb 'To a Friend on his Wedding-day' by Sir William Pepys 'The Ship's Return' by Miss Benger 'A Simile- I saw the wild rose' - Mrs J Hunter Amongst many others. Previous owners bookplate to the front pastedown reads, 'Rev. W. W. Holland' Joanna Baillie, was a Scottish poet and dramatist, born in 1762. In full calf binding with gilt detailing. Externally smart. Rubbing to the head and tail of the spine. Spine is lifting slightly, to the head due to rubbing. Crack to the front joint, to the tail. Small crack to the rear joint, to the head. Front hinge is slightly strained by firm. Previous owners bookplate to the front pastedown. Slight offsetting to the front and rear pastedown. Offsetting to the front endpaper, due to the bookplate. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally clean, with some slight agetoning to the edges of some pages, and the off spot throughout. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
