London: Printed for John Garrett, [1679.] Small folio (312 x 198 mm), [1], 21, [1] leaves, half-title with engraved portrait of Dürer on verso, 19 full-page engravings on rectos (6 partly coloured in amateur pink pencil) with text on numbered versos, publisher's advertisement on the verso of final leaf, text browned and lightly soiled, stitched as issued with half-title and publisher's advertisement as upper and lower covers, corners a little dog-eared, covers with light chipping to margins and just touching the border of the frontispiece. A rare early edition of a drawing manual which was first published by Thomas Jenner (1621-1672) in 1652 under the title 'A Book of Drawing', with a further edition appearing in 1666. On his death he was succeeded by the printseller John Garrett (1669-1718), who publisher further editions from whose shop "you may have choice of all sorts of large or small maps; coloured, or uncoloured, variety of Dutch and French prints, and prints done in Metzo-Tincto, very good Indian-ink to draw withal, and all sorts of the best copy-books, and Cocker's tutor to writing and arithmetick... and several sorts of coloured sashes to set before windows." All editions are rare and seldom appear in commerece, ESTC locating just a single complete copy of this edition at Harvard.

England. - Hereford. - Handwritten document on parchment, 1803. Testament and last will of Thomas Bird from the parish of Eye, Hereford, UK. He leaves several parcels of land in Eye, Brimfield and Botchford, as well as an estate in Brimfield, to his family. Made in 1799, signed by the testator and witnesses in 1803, written by Thomas Clarke in brown ink on parchment, 36,5 x 47,5 cm. With another smaller piece of parchment containing the confirmation of the testament by John Napleton, General Principal of the Lordbishop of Hereford, parchment with a printed form and paper stamp (also a stamp on the back), filled out by Thomas Clarke.

1803, 36.5 x 47.5 cm, was originally attached to the testament by the (now missing) seal. in all 2 parts.

The pen and ink sketch is mounted in a simple card frame but titling beneath it reveals The Grey Man of the Merick. Difficult to judge whether this sketch is original or a high quality print.There are initials bottom right - LMc? Measures 16 x 12 (the picture 13x 9). In excellent condition though the mount is ageing. See scans one of which shows a photograph of the feature. . Very Good
