¶ With a slip bound in ‘This thesis has been written and printed on view of Candidature for the degree of Master of Surgery in the University of London, in December, 1903, and has not yet been published.’ John Preston Maxwell (1871–1961), Presbyterian obstetric missionary to China. Following his devout Presbyterian faith, Maxwell became a Medical missionary for the English Presbyterian Church and, in about 1898, went to Fujian in China, where he spent the majority of his highly successful professional life.
