Volume II only out of a total of three volumes.An uncommon work.This second volume focuses only on the enumeration abstract. An interesting work on the English census, looking into the act of George IV to take account the population of Britain, and its increase and diminution. Looking into the population of England, Wales, and Scotland, this is an essential reference work containing many answers and returns of the census. Rebound in a cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some light marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the spine. Ex-institutional copy with labels and stamps to the front paste down, recto to the front endpaper, recto to the front blank. Internally, binding is strained in a few places. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean with just a few light spots. Institutional label and stamp to the recto and verso of the title page. Bradshaw's was a series of railway timetables and travel guide books published by W. J. Adams and later Henry Blacklock, both of London. This volume provides a record of railway and telegraph conveyance to and from every town, village, and parish containing a population of five hundred or above, in England, Wales, and Scotland, for the year 1873. With a general railway station list and complete electric telegraph directory. They are named after founder George Bradshaw, an English cartographer, printer and publisher who produced his first timetable in October 1839. In the original full cloth biding. Externally, worn with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading and discolouration to the cloth with the odd mark. Splits in the cloth across the spine and board resulting in light fraying. Hinges tender with front free endpaper and title page detached but present. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright with age toning and the odd handling mark. Good Only . Ill.: None.
