Article XI from the Edinburgh Review, Volume XXXII (Campaign of 1813)
Edinburgh, Archibald & Constable , 1819. Leather. A handsomely bound copy of this article extract from 'The Edinburgh Review' offering a critique of works published about the 1813 Campaign in Saxony. A fascinating article extract from The Edinburgh Review, Volume XXXII, offering a critical review of various early nineteenth century works written about the 1813 Campaign in Saxony. In particular, this article critiques Relation Circonstanciee de la Campagne de 1813 en Saxe by M. Le Baron D'Odeleben, as well as Histoire de Guerre Soutenue Par Les Francais en Allemagne en 1813 by General Guillaume de Voudoncourt. The Campaign of Saxony in 1813 was fought between the Sixth Coalition (Austria, Prussia, Russia, and Sweden) and Napoleon Bonaparte's French military. This campaign resulted in the end of the First French Empire. This work is unauthored, and scarce. It has been handsomely rebound in half morocco and marbled boards, as well as refreshed endpapers. Handsomely rebound in half morocco with marbled boards and refreshed endpapers. Externally, lovely. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, especially considering the age of the work. Fine . Ill.: Not Stated. Fine .

The Edinburgh Review, or critical journal: for July, 1855 ... October, 1855. Vol. CII.
London: Longman, Brown, Green and Longmans; Edinburgh: Adam and Charles Black, 1855. 22cm. 58[2], 28[2]pp adverts, pp[305]-604, further adverts at rear. Original printed card wraps; printed paper spine label, uncut. Spine worn; front wrap loosening. The Edinburgh Review, or Critical Journal was launched on 10 October 1802, and was to become one of the most influential Whig periodicals of the 19th century. Apart from individual issues, annual or semi-annual volumes were bound-up; however, these dismissed the advertising material, book catalogues, pamphlets and other ephemera which had become a staple part of each issue. In this issue the following are worthy of note: Carter's Autumn 1855 Seed Catalogue; Waterlow & Sons Stationery Catalogue (nothing in DISCOVER prior to 1882) and The Church Pastoral Aid Society - relating to railways.
