A four volume published account of the minutes, memoranda and evidence of a government discussion on the policies of the Bank of England. The complete four volume set of 1960 publications from the Committee on the Working of the Monetary System, consisting of three volumes of the 'Principal Memoranda of Evidence', and a large single volume dedicated to 'Minutes of Evidence&apos. Published a decade before the UK conversion to decimalisation, these volumes contain reports and oral discussions on the monetary policy and workings of the Bank of England, often referred to as the Radcliffe Report, named after its chairman. The report started collecting evidence in 1957, as a result of dissatisfaction with the workings of monetary policy in the 1950s. It today remains an important reference document on the Bank of England, its workings and its history.With the bookplate of the Standard Chartered Bank Limited Library of London to the front pastedown of 'Principal Memoranda of Evidence' volume I, and no further library markings.
