The first edition of this work. In the original green cloth.This insightful work offers a dictionary of the Isle of Wight dialect and sayings, with some illustrated by anecdotes or examples of the dialect being used in conversation.Also included is a traditional Christmas play as performed in the Isle of Wight, called the 'Christmas Boys', as well as many songs sung by the peasantry.  In the original green cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with heavy rubbing to the extremities and discolouration to the spine. With a damp stain to the front board and marks. Cloth coming away to the spine and fading to the text. Internally, generally firmly bound, with one leaf detached but present. Pages are generally bright and clean, with occasional spots and offsetting to the endpapers. Previous owner's pencil inscription to the front pastedown. Good Only . Ill.: None. Good Only .
