Period leather over boards with gilt lettering over maroon spine label; five gilt rules, six compartments, each housing gilt motifs, gilt borders to the boards. Striking engraved frontispiece, accompanied with engraved vignette to the title page depicting "death" visiting a man in his bed. Light rubbing and edgewear, superficial scuffs to the leather extremities, text-block remains remarkably bright, clean, and unmarked and with firm, sound binding; very good+. See OCLC #32649869. One of the most popular works of the 18th century, Young's 'Night-Thoughts' was originally published in a series of nine parts, or "nights", over the course of 1742-1745, and accompanied with notable engravings by William Blake. It would be rendered into French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Welsh, Magyar, et al.
