Circa [1910s]. [1910s]. - Sepia toned 5-3/8 inch high by 3-3/8 inch wide photo postcard. Signed "Marie Studholme". The surface of the bottom left corner is rubbed away, not affecting the photo. She was also associated with the Women's Suffrage movement and photographed many suffragettes including Flora Drummond, Millicent Fawcett and Christabel Pankhurst.

Marie Studholme [1872-1930] was a British actor and singer who played both starring and supporting roles in Victorian and Edwardian musical comedy. Johnny Marvin (“The Lonesome Singer of the Air”)
Johnny Marvin. (Photograph of Radio Personality Printed on Postcard). (Signed in the Plate)
[New York?]: 1932. Black & White photograph on 5.5 x 3.5 inch postcard. Good. Postmarked on verso, Nov 12 1932, bearing 1 penny stamp. Some glue residue. John Senator Marvin (July 11, 1897 – December 10, 1944) was an early recording artist, starting in 1924 and covering a twenty-year period for many record labels. Born in Butler, Oklahoma Territory in 1897, Marvin ran away from home at age 16. He served in the US Navy during World War I. After returning home, he went on the road as a vaudeville performer. His first solo ukulele recording, "You know Me Alabam'", was in 1924 on the Radiex label under the name Johnny Marvin. He was an early adapter of the Martin Tiple style ukulele. It is probable that he was introduced to the new instrument due to a factory visit to the Martin factory in 1922. He was unsuccessful in obtaining an endorsement deal with Martin, who limited their support to a 20% discount for all performers. From a collection of photographs and other ephemera removed from the scrapbook of a radio music enthusiast. .
