A Declaration Published in Maryland; Captain William Stone's Resignation of the Government; Order for Settling the Government of Maryland
Washington, D.C., Peter Force, . Reprint Edition. Softcover. Size: Elephant Folio 23" tall. Virtually certainly a reprint by the Peter Force who published enormous quantities of American and then U.S. historical documents, looking virtually identical to other reprinted documents of his dating to the 1830s. "Captain William Stone's Resignation of the Government" begins on p. 38 and ends on p. 39, with "Witness my Hand the 20 of July, 1654 In Presence of William Stone, Thomas Gerrad, Thomas Hatton, and Ed. Scarburgh, the latter three (probably) being the three authors. "A Declaration Published in Maryland" is on p. 36 and p. 37, dated at Pauxent, Maryland, dated 15 of July 1654, by Richard Bennet and Will Claiborne.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. . . . Sarah Stone. Natural curiosities from the new worlds
Central Book House, 1998. Linnen band met stofomslag. Pp: 159. This ground-breaking new series brings to light, often for the first time, the artistically and scientifically fascinating painting and drawing collections of The Natural History Museum, London. Each book introduces, with splendid colour plates and a readable and scholarly commentary, pioneer artists whose names have until now been undeservedly little known. From about 1777 the talented watercolourist Sarah Stone (ca. 1760-1844) was employed by the entrepreneur Sir Ashton Lever to record the contents of his extraordinary private museum. This consisted of specimens and ethnographic material being brought back by British expeditions to Australia, the Americas, Africa and the Far East in the 1780s and 1790s - most importantly from Cook's round-the-world voyages. Her meticulous and fascinating paintings provide a unique record of the discoveries made by sailors and naturalists on board survey ships and in the new colonies during these early explorations. The Lever Museum was tragically dispersedin 1806, and most of its zoological specimens have been lost. Apart from their artistic interest, Sarah Stone's paintings provide an important record of specimens used by naturalists in the age of Linnaeus for their descriptions of new species (some now extinct). Though now little known, the Lever Museum was a major feature of the fashionable culture of eighteenth-century London and its story is here told for the first time. Besides the 60 charming, unique and impressive plates chosen for colour reproduction, more than 900 paintings by Sarah Stone are surveyed. ISBN: 9781858940632. Cond./Kwaliteit: Goed.

(F.G. Clarke Blue-Stone Co.)
1891 F.G. Clarke Blue-Stone Co. : Oxford, Chenango Co. , N.Y. [an Original Promotional Trade Catalog & View Book Advertising the Firm].
New York: Engraved and printed by the Photo-Engraving Company, (1891). (1891). - Oblong octavo, 6-3/4 inches high by 9-1/8 inches wide. Stiff creamy white wraps titled in silver on the front cover and bound with a silk cord along the spine. The covers are a bit soiled with a couple of brown stains on the front and with a small spot and faint line to the rear cover. [16] unnumbered pages, with 8 full-page illustrations of the company's quarries, mills and cutting sheds, including a view of the town of Oxford, NY. The contents are clean and bright. Very good. One of the "Chenango Twenty Towns" townships ceded to New York State in a treaty between the Oneida Indians and Governor George Clinton in 1788, the town of Oxford became an early trading center. Built in 1837, the Chenango Canal ran through the center of the village which became one of the most important ports along that waterway. Of the town's booming bluestone quarries, those owned by the F.G. Clarke Blue Stone Company were the most productive of the period. Close to transportation, the heavy bluestones could be ferried by riverboats to be cut down east. Though still used for patios, fireplaces and garden walkways, the advent of Portland Cement and the stock market crash spelled the end of an era. RARE. Very good .
