Compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Decorative double gilt borders on boards. Marbled endpapers. All edges dyed green. A few minor white marks on the front board otherwise a near fine mid twentieth century leather binding. Not signed but certainly by a master binder.

With many vignette illustrations throughout, and red-and-black illustrations to the rear. Vincent Steer was a compositor noted for founding the British Typographers' Guild and for his book on typography (Printing Design and Layout), which was known as the "Typographer's Bible". In a black pebbled cloth binding. Externally, smart, with just some very light bumping to the corners. Front hinge tender. Internally, generally firmly bound although a few of the pages are detached.
