Lardner, Foster. (1873-1934). Actor and amateur magician. Member of the National Conjurers' Association Ring No. 2 in Rhode Island.
Autograph Note to His Daughter Signed by Actor and Magician Foster Lardner. Together with a Mailing Envelope.
West Barrington, RI: June 19, 1932. 1932. - 13 words filling half of a sheet of his personalized 7-1/4 inch high by 8-1/2 inch wide letterhead with his Rhode Island address printed at the top. Signed "Daddy". The top right corner is creased. Folded 3 times for mailing. Together with his personalized mailing envelope addressed in his hand to "Sylvia Foster Lardner" but with no street address [the note probably accompanied a gift]. The envelope has been roughly opened down its left side. The letter is in very good condition.

Foster Lardner writes to his daughter Sylvia Foster Lardner Page [1913-1997]: "With love from Mother & Daddy -- We are very proud of you Dear".

An actor and amateur magician, Foster Lardner [1873-1934] was taught magic by Al Baker. For twenty years he was the head of the Keith organization in and around Providence, Rhode Island. He was also a member of the National Conjurers' Association Ring No. 2 in Rhode Island. He was manager of the Albee Theatre in Providence and stage manager for the SAM Carnival of Magic [1931] which featured Cardini, Jarrow and Hardeen. During World War I he gave frequent magical entertainments for soldiers in hospitals and later gave shows in the children's hospital in Providence. Very good .
