Réalisé d'après les maquettes de Massin, illustré de 10 reproductions en sérigraphie tirées à la main (Planches de kimonos en couleurs). ƒlève de l'ƒcole polytechnique et pilote de reconnaissance durant la Première Guerre mondiale, Roger Poidatz (de son vrai nom) est envoyé en 1917 au Japon pour former les Japonais à la photographie aérienne. De retour en France, il achève son premier roman "L'Honorable partie de campagne", basé sur sa vie au Japon et l'incompréhension entre deux civilisations. Poidatz signa son livre ÇThomas RaucatÈ, une approximation phonétique de l'expression "Tomarô ka", qui signifie ÇNe m'arrêterai-je point ici ?È.
