Collated complete. This interesting work was written by Douglas C. McMurtrie, an American typeface designer, graphic designer and bibliographer of printing. The work provides a comprehensive historical account of bookbinding and printing practices, starting with primitive printing and the origin of the alphabet and ending with contemporary practices and type-design. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally excellent with only slight bumping to the extremities. Small bookplate belonging to 'Daniel Dougal' to the front free endpaper. The wrap is generally smart with fading to the spine, handling marks, a closed tear to the tail of the spine joint and chipping and small closed tears to the extremities.
