¶ Malcolm Ronald Laing Meason [ 1820 - 1889 ] military offier who served in the second Afghan and Gwalior campaigns. After leaving the Army he turned to journalism, with the bulk of this work having appeared in Charles Dickens' 'All the Year Round'. He was noted for publishing books on fraudulent financial practices, particularly those of joint stock companies : The Bubbles of Finance, [1865], The Profits of Panics, [1866], Turf Frauds and Turf Practices; or, Spiders and Flies, [1868], Sir William's Speculations; or, The Seamy Side of Finance [1886].
