Curious hole & tear to the gutter of 50pp in volume I with the LOSS of text to 20pp ( the hole becomes larger until it is a large tear across the page & then decreases in size ) pp101-110 the most affected with loss of several lines of text, occasional ink splash & burn mark, an attractively bound, but sadly damaged set. ¶ Later edition of Lapide's monumental commentary on the Bible which 'explain not only the literal, but also the allegorical, tropological, and anagogical sense of the sacred text, and furnish a large number of quotations from the Fathers and the later interpreters of Holy Writ during the Middle Ages.
