Binding faintly edgeworn, with spine lightly sunned. Tight and decent edition issued in conjunction with the 1937 release of the Spencer Tracy/Lionel Barrymore/Freddie Bartholomew film treatment, featuring Bartholomew's portrait as Harvey Cheyne as frontispiece and endpapers a photo montage of film scenes. This was the childhood copy of future U.S. Senator from Illinois Adlai E. Stevenson III (b. 1930) -- son of the two-term Illinois governor and twice presidential candidate. His large, boldly pencilled 7-year-old ownership siognature graces the inner flyleaf. .
