Half cloth carboard box with black ties, 43,5 x 33 x 2,5 cms., containing (14) leaves including 7 etchings by Hans van Draanen, all signed and dated in pencil, loose as issued. Rare publication issued in 100 hand-numbered copies, signed by Willem Jan Hendrikse (poet) and Draanen in colophon. The box is in poor condition, one corner repaired with tape, the contents show some spotting, but are otherwise in fine condition. Loosely inserted handwritten postcard by Bergensche Boekhandel addressed to E. de Koster, Bennebroek (NL). *Hans Van Draanen was primarily inspired by the 1950s growing up. During the Post War period, New York City became the global focus for Modernism. Throughout the Second World War, many artists had travelled to the city after having fled in exile from Europe, which resulted in a merging and amalgamation of talent and ideas. Whilst in New York, influential Europeans such as Piet Mondrian, Josef Albers and Hans Hoffmann provided inspiration for American artists, and influenced cultural maturation in the United States for many subsequent decades. Influential artists of this period included Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko, Frank Kline, Barnett Newman, Clyfford Still and Adolph Gottlieb. In later revisions, the contributions and efforts of female artists such as Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchell, and Louise Bourgeois have been recognised, amongst many other female creatives.
