Vol. 1: (2), pp. 1-337. Vol. 2: 346 pp. Narrative of a journey through Pennsylvania, the old Northwest, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia. "Hoffman's first book, an entertaining and informative journal of his travels from New York to Ohio, Missouri and Illinois in the winter of 1833. Field thought highly enough of Hoffman's account of the various Western Indian tribes to give it a "high rank in aboriginal literature." "BAL 8521; Sabin 32389; Howes H 568; Graff 1918; Clark II, Field 706 - "The numerous incidents of personal intercourse with Indians of various western tribes, the interesting details which the author's ardent curiosity regarding them drew from persons familiar with their life and habits, and the voluminous notes appended to these volumes, extracted from works not easily accessible, entitle them to a high rank in aboriginal literature. Ill.: `. Fair+, spine coming off of Volume 1, which also has two contemporary reviews related to the work pasted onto the ffep. Vol. 2 has loss to the top of the spine but not to any lettering of the title. Text blocks are solid, very minor marginalia noted on one page of volume 2. Overall a very nice set in untouched condition .

As an early proponent of the underground comix movement, EVO published work by R. Crumb, Trina Robbins (neither in this issue) and others, as well as publishing a paper devoted to comix. This issue with front art by Andy Warhol; two brief statements by Abbie Hoffman and Rick Rubin, along with the announcement of the death of the Yippies and the birth of the Youth International Party; news on the trial of the Black Panther 21 in New York, theater, etc. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present. Moderate toning. Paper a bit brittle. Mailing label present. Good .

With several comix by Kim Deitch. GOOD condition. Haphazard horizontal fold crease present. Moderate toning and dark scuffing, perhaps ink residue from printing. A few small tears and creases along the fore edge. A few faint spots of staining. Mailing label on the upper front cover. Good .
