Two first edition copies, in the original French. Uniformly bound. La Nonne Alferez by Jose-Maria de Heredia is illustrated by Daniel Vierge. Jose-Maria de Heredia was a Cuban born French Parnassian poet. With in-text illustrations and adverts to the rear. L'Avril is a novel by Paul Margueritte with illustrations by de Marold, Picard and Mittis with eight plates and in-text illustrations. Paul Margueritte was a French amateur mime and novelist. Collated, complete. I quarter calf with marbled boards. Externally, very smart with very light bumping to the head and tail of the spines. José-Maria de Heredia was a Cuban-born French Parnassian poet. He was the fifteenth member elected for seat 4 of the Académie française in 1894. .

As translated for the first time from the original French into English by John Myers O'Hara and John Hervey, this perfectly serviceable reference copy is not fancy, but is complete and sturdy and comes complete with a fine gift inscription from O'Hara to "Tim Tully, with kindest regards," dated Sept. 17, 1929 and with a tipped-in black-and-white photograph underneath it, in this case, of John Myers O'Hara at Camp McFee, 1921, standing at the rear of a jeepney, leading to some waffling of the endpaper. Black cloth covers, moderately rubbed, rubbed gilt title at spine. Pasted inside front flap is a note from a review, extolling the virtues of Jose-Maria de Heredia, an interesting French poet.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. . Huibert Marie Luns (6 June 1881, Paris - 24 February 1942, Amsterdam) was a Dutch painter, sculptor, writer and also graphic designer. With dedication in pen on verso title: "Voor Eduard Hoelen op 28 Februari 1920 [signed] Frank Luns" and with ex-libris of Ed Hoelen on inside frontwrapper. Some foxing; lacking binding-cord; wrappers slightly sunfaded.
