The memoirs of Jean-Baptiste Antoine Marcelin Marbot, known as Marcellin Marbot, a French general famous for his memoirs depicting the Napoleonic age of warfare. Marbot saw battle on many occasions from 1803 to 1815 when he was exiled during the first years of the Bourbon Restoration. He returned to France in 1819 and, due to his intimate relationship with King Louis Philippe I and his son, was promoted to Marechal de Camp during the July Monarchy. Later he was promoted again to Lieutenant-General, and as a member of the Chamber of Peers to the King. Bound in quarter crushed morocco with marbled boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and minor fading to the spines. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot.
