In the story, Hans wants to win a pair of wonderful silver skates. To do, he must win an important skating race in the Netherlands. This work first published in 1865. This edition does not feature illustrations, other than on the covers. --- In grey cloth-covered boards with a color illustration of Hans to the cover, another of a windmill to spine. Undated, but possibly published c.1900-1916. Volume lacks a dust jacket. --- A Good-only copy, with a large brown dampstain to lower corner of covers, spine and textblock edge, and with prior owner's dated signature to front paste-down, else a sound, sturdy copy of this classic children's story. ; Small Octavo - 7-1/2 to 8 in. tall; (4), ii, 313 pages. Good with no dust jacket .

Garden City Publishing, 1932. 1932. Hardcover with dust jacket. Hardback, VG+ in VG- dj (dj in new protective mylar). Dark blue titles on turquoise cloth with colorful N.C. Wyeth front cover pastedown (repeated on dustjacket). Slight darkening at hinges. Neat gift inscription to FFEP. Exterior: extremely light rubbing, primarily to spine ends. Wyeth pastedown I'd call perfect. Dustjacket: nice Wyeth front panel, although half-inch triangle missing at top edge + light chipping at top of spine + one-inch by half-inch chip missing at bottom of spine (about one-third of the bottom one inch of dj spine). Dustjacket otherwise shows a little general edgewear, mostly minor soil to spine and back panel only. Very Good/Very Good.
