In the story, Hans wants to win a pair of wonderful silver skates. To do, he must win an important skating race in the Netherlands. This work first published in 1865. This edition does not feature illustrations, other than on the covers. --- In grey cloth-covered boards with a color illustration of Hans to the cover, another of a windmill to spine. Undated, but possibly published c.1900-1916. Volume lacks a dust jacket. --- A Good-only copy, with a large brown dampstain to lower corner of covers, spine and textblock edge, and with prior owner's dated signature to front paste-down, else a sound, sturdy copy of this classic children's story. ; Small Octavo - 7-1/2 to 8 in. tall; (4), ii, 313 pages.
