M. Dent vignette to front cover, brown topstain and fancy Knowles woodcut art at title page, endpapers & frontis. In the publisher's original bindings which have suffered a bit as they were never intended to last, but still a clean original set. The first translation by Thomas Roscoe, with notes and observations by G. P. Carpani. Complete in two volumes. Benvenuto Cellini was an Italian Goldsmith, sculptor and musician famous for his autobiography and is contribution to the artistic period of Mannerism. In publishers original paper covered boards. Externally, worn with rubbing and bumping. Loss to backstrips of both volumes. Front joint/ hinge failed to volume I with front board held by cords only. All other hinges strained. Internally, generally firmly bound although strained in places. Pages cockled but generally bright with scattered spots. Fair . Ill.: None. Fair .
