Written by John Gerard Braine, an English novelist typically listed among the Angry Young Men. This set contains: Room at the Top, 1957. Following an ambitious young working-class man who juggles sexual relationships with two middle-class women in a northern town in post-war England. From the Hand of the Hunter, 1960. The story of a man's heroic fight against the love of failure - the other side of the coin from the author's earlier book Room at the Top. Early in life Dick Corvey found that the prize of success would never be his, and he soon became obsessed with the seduction of seeking failure. Life at the Top, 1962. First printing. It is ten years on from Joe's life in Room At The Top. He now has everything he thought he wanted – the upper-class wife, an executive job, two cars and two children for his new house. Yet, Joe is still a dissatisfied man. In the original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original dust wrappers are price-clipped other than From the Hand of the Hunter which remains unclipped. Dust wrappers are also very smart with light wear and sunning to the extremities.
