With its forbidding headmistress, intimidating teachers (one of whom is a convicted murderess) and bizarre rules, adapting to Miss Bodycote's is quite a challenge. But Flavia is soon on familiar ground, when, onher first night, a mummified body is dislodged from a chimney, and she is presented with a gruesome puzzle to solve. And the mystery of the withered corpse is only the beginning. Girlshave been disappearing from Miss Bodycote's with alarming regularity, leading Flavia to wonder not only how and why , but what exactly is the academy's true purpose, and why were her father and Aunt Felicity so keen for her to enrol? If Flavia is to avoid the same fate as the missing girls, she must enter a shadowy world where truth and lies seem interchangeable and no one can be trusted. And ultimately she must discover what exactly it means to be her mother's daughter. L. As New/As New.

Toronto, Anchor Canada. 2015, 1st Pbk Edition. (ISBN: 9780385678407) Trade Paperback. Book, [ A Flavia de Luce Mystery - 7] Banished! is how twelve-year-old Flavia de Luce laments her predicament, when her father and Aunt Felicity ship her off to Miss Bodycote's Female Academy, the boarding school that her mother, Harriet, once attended across the sea in Canada. Flavia being Flavia, a budding chemist and sleuth, that gift is a charred and mummified body, which tumbles out of a bedroom chimney. The Dead in Their Vaulted Arches - a Flavia de Luce Novel
London, Orion. 2014, First. (ISBN: 9781409114260). Hard Cover, 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. An As New copy in an As New dustjacket which is not price clipped. First Edition, First Printing. 315 pages. The presumed death of Harriet de Luce in a mysterious mountaineering accident in Tibet while Flavia was only a baby cast a sombre shadow over the family, leaving Colonel de Luce a broken man and Flavia herself with no memories of her mother. Now, astonishingly, a specially commissioned train is bringing Harriet back to Buckshaw. But rather than putting the past finally to rest, Harriet's return is set to trigger a further series of bizarre and deadly events, as a most curious group of individuals converge on Buckshaw to pay their respects. For Flavia, a gruesome new crime to solve is only one of the mysteries confronting her, as she begins to unravel the shocking revelations of Harriet's past and in doing so discovers an extraordinary tale of espionage and betrayal that also seems to be the key to her own destiny.
