Bourne writes that many of the beautiful structures along the track are missed by passengers due to the 'straightness of the railway&apos. The accompanying text provides information on general principles upon which railway communication is carried, and their application to this railway. Written and illustrated by John Cooke Bourne, a British artist, engraver and photographer, best known for his lithographs showing the construction of the London and Birmingham Railway and the Great Western Railway. Printed by David and Charles reprints of Newton Abbot, who produced many transport facsimile works. In the original full red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light bumping to the extremities. Original price-clipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear to the extremities and minor chipping. The odd small closed tear to the extremities with light loss to the head and tail of the spine as well as the front panel. Small cracks to the spine. Light scattered spotting and the odd mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot to the endpapers. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: John C. Bourne.
