Dent made the first ascent of the Dru (1978) and visited the Caucasus several times during the last decades of the century. He was instrumental in founding the Association of British Members of the Swiss Alpine Club and became its first President in 1879; an obituary and memoir was published when the Association opened the first British hut on the Allalinhorn in 1912. London, Cassell & Co 1896 838pp in total, many illustrations, with tissue guards. 31x24, blue cloth with glt lettering and decoration. Cloth a little shelf worn with some damp marks on spines, one plate loose in vol 1, contents generally good thus. Nice set. Bonney was a geologist, eventually becoming Royal Geological Society of London, and was also at one point President of the Alpine Club, reflecting his interest in climbing as well as studying rocks. He produced a number of works on ecclesiastical matters, of which this is probably the best known. [Heavy item, may need additional postage to some destinations]
