Edmund Blunden
Cricket Country
Imprint Society 1945 Hardback, 224pp. This beautiful green book will look excellent in any sports or game themed room! It begins with a poem all about cricket - Have you not ever felt the urge to write, Of all the cricket that has blessed your sight? Is there no inspiration in the names, Of those that play our best of summer games? You, to whom every detailmust be dear, and every subtlety and beauty clear: the deep content of cricket in the sun, the aesthete's pleasure and the batsman's fun, And under driving clouds, the greatest day, when battle's waged and bowlers have their way - even the dullest grey day's bitter chill, Without the haze of glory's cricket still, Cricket in every mood, leisure of soul, Basking or shivering, to enjoy the whole. - an excellent and epic introductory poem! A true vintage gem for any library!. Missing dust jacket. Previous owner's name written in pen on page one. Pages lightly tanned. Fair.
