It is a conceptual collection of 19 poems, engraved with artwork. This collection mainly shows happy, innocent perception in pastoral harmony. CONDITION Green cloth with paste on illus to front and bright gilt titles light wear spine ents, tips a little curved) pp xvii [2] 49 with 12 beautiful illus plates in colour. The introductory pages are framed with red borders and the poems are framed with green borders in a Celtic design, 16 page publishers cat bound in at rear. Copy is very bright and crisp with name inside front, both free end pages are toned. Very Good/No Jacket.

Unpaginated. 25 leaves of facsimile color plates, printed recto only. 10" x 7-1/4". Average wear & soiling to cloth, period pos to ffep. A VG book in a similar jacket, which has a po penciled note to the rear panel. "Songs of Innocence was originally a complete collection of 23 poems first printed in 1789. Blake etched 31 plates to create the work and produced an estimated seventeen or eighteen copies. This collection mainly shows happy, innocent perception in pastoral harmony, but at times, such as in 'The Chimney Sweeper' and 'The Little Black Boy', subtly shows the dangers of this naïve and vulnerable state."
