Missing text pages. Text pages added in photocopy.[NL] Satirische roman over de politieke en maatschappelijke verhoudingen aan het eind van de achttiende eeuw. Rebman leefde van 1768 tot 1824. Hij was een van de belangrijkste Duitse jacobijnen (de jacobijnen waren de radicaalste groepering tijdens de Franse Revolutie). Op zijn 'Empfindsame Reise nach Schilda' uit 1793 liet hij twee jaar later een tweede deel volgen: 'Leben und Thaten des jüngern Herrn von Münchhausen, wohlweisen Bürgermeisters zu Schilda. Zweyter Theil der empfindsamen Reise nach Schilda'. Al in de zeventiende eeuw was Schilda in Duitsland het plaatsje waar allerlei verhalen werden gelokaliseerd over domme bewoners en hun nog dommere, zelfingenomen bestuurders. Een vergelijkbare plaats in het oude Griekenland was Abdera; Nederland had in Kampen zijn Schilda. Het tweede deel dat als neventitel heeft 'Leven en daaden van den hoog welgeboren, weledelen gr. achtb. heer Joris van Narrenhuizen', kàn een bewerking zijn van Rebmanns tweede deel, maar het is ook goed mogelijk dat het om een oorspronkelijke satire gaat op de in 1795 naar Engeland gevluchte stadhouder Willem V. Buisman noemt als mogelijke auteurs Gerrit Paape en Pieter van Woensel. Voor een auteurschap van Paape zijn geen verdere aanwijzingen; de uitslaande plaat doet denken aan de illustraties die Van Woensel maakte voor zijn almanak 'De Lantaarn' (1792 - 1801) en voor zijn Don Quichot-vertaling (1802).
