The Rev Dr Alexander Crombie (17 July 1762 Aberdeen – 11 June 1840, York Terrace, Regent's Park, London, England) was a Presbyterian minister, schoolmaster and philosopher. Cloth binding with decorative blindstamped detail on front board and gilt title detail on spine. Externally, a trifle rubbed with fading to the spine and bumping and wear to extremities. Hinges slightly strained but firm. Internally firmly bound, pages bright with scattered light spotting and a few handling marks. Personal ink stamp to front pastedown and copperplate inscription on endpaper. Good . Ill.: None. Good .

Autograph Letter Signed by the President of Stevens Institute of Technology Alexander Crombie Humphreys.
Hoboken, NJ: February 2, 1903. 1903. - More than 60 words penned on two sides of of a folded sheet of creamy white "Stevens Institute of Technology" letterhead. Measuring 8 inches high by 5 inches wide, the letter is addressed to lecture tour manager Major James B. Pond. Stevens writes to Pond thanking him in advance for sending a copy of his book, "Eccentricities of Genius". Signed "Alex C Humphreys". Pond has stamped the word "BOOK" on the letter indicating that he has sent the book. The letter has been folded for mailing else fine.

Alexander Crombie Humphreys (1851-1927) was an engineer who in 1902 was unanimously chosen to be the second President of Stevens Institute of Technology. As President he oversaw enormous growth in the school. Very good .
