This work details all manner of the verses recited by shepherds during the reign of Elizabeth I.Contains verses by Edmund Spenser, Sir Philip Sidney, Ben Jonson, Christopher Marlowe and Nicholas Breton, among others.Written by Adelaide L. J. Gosset (1855-1936), who also wrote 'Shepherd of Britain, or, Scenes from Shepherd Life Past and Present&apos.A scarce work. In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally a trifle worn, with bumping to the head and tail of the cloth and extremities resulting in wear to the cloth. Dust wrapper is discoloured, with a tear across the head of the spine two inches down, chipping to the head and tail of the spine, and a few spots to the boards. Ownership stamp to the front pastedown, and a gift inscription to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a little spotted in places, but otherwise bright. Very Good . Ill.: None.
