A collection of biographies of English heroes during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, including Sir Walter Raleigh, Sir John Hawkins, Sir Humphrey Gilbert, Thomas Cavendish, Sir Francis Drake, and Sir Philip Sidney. This work was written by William Henry Davenport Adams (1828–1891), a nineteenth-century writer and journalist. Undated, dated through copies held at the British Library. In a full calf prize binding. Externally smart, with just a little fading to the spine. Gilt remains bright. Remnants of a bookplate to the front free end paper. Internally, firmly bound.
