The Devil's Blast [Non-Consecutive Run of 22 Issues] ; [Periodical of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles]
Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Royal Winnipeg Rifles Association, 1990-2014. First Edition. Spiral Bound. 4to's. uniformly measuring 8.5" x 11". Variously paginated with issues comprising between 27-108 leaves. Alternatively issued in a pictorial twice-stapled card cover format, or bound in black plastic spiral bindings (chiefly later issues). An incomplete, and non-consecutive run of twenty-two issues of the privately funded, quarterly, regimental periodical of the venerable Canadian infantry regiment, the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, sometimes colloquially referred to as the "Little Black Devils" (a nickname coined by their German adversaries during the Second World War). All issues richly illustrated with many black-and-white, and colour photographs, portraits, illustrations, maps, facsimiles, etc. Comprises of a rich selection of regimental news, prose and poetry, historical articles and biographies, anecdotes, general military news, obituaries and commemorative pieces, news of promotions, announcements, and much else. Additionally, each issue records the names of the executive membership, accompanied with their respective contact information, alongside financial disclosures (chiefly relating to the cost of production, member dues), etc. Unrecorded in commerce. Uniformly without significant blemish (a rare few issues bear the subscriber's name, and occasional ink notation), else, overwhelmingly without flaws; near fine. At time of cataloguing not found in Peel, BAC/LAC, University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections. Corresponds to OCLC #506117057 recording an incomplete run at the Canadian Museum of History and Canadian War Museum.
