With a frontispiece, three other colour plates and numerous vignette illustrations throughout by Pauline Diana Baynes. Collated complete. A selection of British fairy-tales retold by Amabel Williams-Ellis. Featuring titles such as 'Fifty Red Night-Caps', 'The Baker's Daughter', and 'Jack and the Beanstalk&apos. Amabel Williams-Ellis was an English writer and early member of the Bloomsbury Group. She was also a renowned editor and anthologist and compiled several collections of folk tales and fairy stories. Complete with the half title page. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities. The front hinge is starting but still firm. The odd spot to the paste-downs and free endpapers. The original clipped dust wrapper is in smart condition. Shelf wear to the edges and chipping to the spine. Spotting to the panels and spine. Creasing to the lower rear panel. Spotting to the inside of the dust wrapper. Internally, binding slightly strained towards the centre but still firmly bound.
