A new edition of this uncommon work. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Illustrated with a frontispiece and four monochrome plates.This historical fiction provides the tale of the Battle of Chalgrove Field, which is now best remembered for the death of John Hampden, who died six days later from shoulder wounds. The author, Augustine David Crake, was an English cleric and states in his preface that he does not conceal his own sympathies towards the Cavaliers or Royalists, being the opponents of Hampden led by Prince Rupert. In the original cloth binding. Externally, with light wear to the extremities bumping to the head and tail of spine. Sunning to the spine and a couple marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. Offsetting and ink inscriptions to the front endpapers. Very Good . Ill.: Not stated. Very Good .
