Martin Amis
Other People: A Mystery Story
London, Jonathan Cape, 1981. First edition. Cloth. The first edition of this thriller from Martin Amis. Amis saw the novel as a kind of overall investigation. "Mary (the main character) doesn't know what her role is," Amis explained in 1981. "Because of this, men start questioning their own attitudes towards women, and even about themselves. When one's role is undermined, you begin to look at everything around you in a different light." In a black cloth binding with original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart, with just some slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Dustwrapper is very smart. Internally, firmly bound. Bookseller's label to front pastedown, and insitutional ink stamp to front endpaper. Blue staining to the uppper textblock edge, which marginally encroaches on a few pages but does not affect the text. Pages are otherwise bright and clean, with just the odd spot. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good/Very Good Indeed.
