WALLACE, ROBERT. - India in 1887.

Edinburgh, Oliver & Boyd 1888. Octavo half gilt red morocco; xxiv,363pp, 71 plates of which the first 47 are photographic (one folding), the rest lithographs (including two colour plates of mangoes), 3 folding maps, illustrations through the text. Ex parliamentary library with their gilt crest on the front board and incorporated into the spine, no other markings; endpapers spotted; a handsome copy. ¶ An agricultural tour, four months long and "over 13,000 miles by rail. Those who know what it is to travel in India during the heat of summer will at least give me credit for sincerity of purpose". Much is devoted to cattle - "there is no subject of greater importance in India" and little written.
