After the advent of the car, as the 20th century drove on, the hearse devolved from the display case on wheels it had been to being little more than a stretch limo for the terminally lazy. Modern versions of these miyagata shinto hearses persist but they look like over-pimped slide on campers on the back of a ute.I wonder about the location; it doesn't look a neighbourhood where many people would be able to afford this stylish a send off. But weddings and funerals are occasions for crippling expenses; it's only births that we skimp on.
