Osaka, Aoki Suzando 1896 (Meiji 29). Three volumes, 18x12cm, publisher's wrappers with title labels. Profusely illustrated throughout. The third volume, which is all double page and folding plates, has a pasted paper spine rather than stitching and is coming loose. An outstanding set in colour illustrated outer wrapper (fukuro). ¶ The secrets (hiden means secret) of Tsukiyama garden design, which I have now learned is something I always wanted: gardens with artificial hills, streams and ponds.
