The exhibition was a "feast for the senses" whose outstanding features have been preserved in the pages of this book along with of the fabulous trade in ceramics from China and from within South-East Asia itself. As professor Wang Gungwu has said, "the traditional trade in oriental ceramics may not be as well-known as that in silk, spices or tea, but is certainly no less significant in advancing Western understanding of Asia.".
