The point of departure for this investigation project was Tomás Pereira's diary, Diário de 1689, which was published for the first time in 1961. From then onwards, the Jesuit priest remained relatively forgotten. From 2006 until 2008, when the results were presented at an international colloquium organised by the Centro Científico e Cultural de Macau, there was a systematic search for new documents relating to his life, with new chronological facts being established. This gave origin to the exhibition and subsequent catalogue, which not only explains the life of Tomás Pereira through three main articles - his life in Portugal, his life in India, and his life in emperor Kangxi's China - but is also accompanied by a catalogue of objects and documents that relate to his character and the places where he had his missions. With 37 catalogue entries, each with the respective image and caption, it is a fundamental book for the understanding of the general context of the life of the Jesuits in Europe, India and China.
