First edition of Wansleben's narrative of his second journey to Egypt. Johann Michael Wansleben was a German theologian and linguist. In 1670 in the service of Jean-Baptist Colbert he planned a new journey to Ethiopia, but once again went no further than Egypt. He travelled extensively in Egypt for about a year and came as far south as Sohag. His account is one of the earliest of Upper Egypt.
