Two preliminary pages and one colophon in Japanese. Original decorated paper covers. Housed in original cloth folder, worn. Some browning to the endpapers but the woodcuts are in excellent condition with good impression. First edition.Rokkaku Shisui (1867-1950) was an authority on Japanese lacquer ware. Together with Tenshin Okakura he founded the Japan Art Institute. He lived for some time in the US where he worked at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and at the Metropolitan Museum.
