First extensive description of the species (Cole p. 219) 'One of the greatest teachers of his century. He discovered the pneumaticy of the bones of birds, and made valuable contributions to the comparative anatomy of the Mammalia'. (Cole) He discovered the Angulus facialis, named after him, first measurement of the human skull. With biography (abr.) by A.G. Camper and two "Eloges" by Vicq d'Azyr and Condorcet.
