Usual 2nd state printing due to first print run being withdrawn on it's release because of threatened legal action from JB Priestley. His fourth and first successful book, it was renamed Orient Express when it was published in the United States and made into a film of the same name in 1934. CONDITION Black cloth with Gilt spine title, clean bds with wear at spine ends causing two very short splits at spine head, bottom cnrs curved. Has second state alterations with Quin Savory in stead QC Savory on pages 77, 78, 82, 98 & 131, plus references to Chaucer instead of Dickens. Remnants of book plate to front end page, foxed edges, o/w bright copy with fold to three pages cnrs, 307 pages. Good/No Jacket.
