East Village Other was an underground newspaper from New York (duh), known for its early embrace of the counterculture and counterculture aesthetics, often using absurdist pieces to provide social commentary. As an early proponent of the underground comix movement, EVO published work by R. Crumb, Trina Robbins (neither in this issue) and others, as well as publishing a paper devoted to comix, the aforementioned Gothic Blimp Works. This issue with articles on the military, art and culture, as well as a lengthy piece on underground comix. Comix by Skip Williamson, Vaughn Bode, Willy Murphy and others also present.
