Interior in very good condition.; The Chinese ceramics in the Rijksmuseum comprise one of the finest but least published collections of Chinese porcelain in the world. The Dutch were the first and most successful of the Western nations to develop trading links with China. This book is the first scholarly publication of the Rijksmuseum's magnificent collection of Ming and Qing seventeenth and eighteen-century wares exported to Holland. The 400 pieces included, many published here for the first time, are described and illustrated in full colour. These include Kraak and Transitional porcelains, a wide selection of Kangxi underglaze blue and polychrome wares, famille rose and other eighteen-century enamelled wares, Chine de commande, blanc de Chine and Yixing wares. In addition there is a selection of imperial wares and pieces made for the Chinese market which includes rare and unusual pieces. The importance of the book lies in the quality of the collection and the scholarly commentaries to the pieces which include the most up-to-date research. Extensive introductory sections provide background information to the wares described and illustrated and place the objects in historical context. Good/No Jacket.
