The first was published in 1907 devoted to Japanese ancient designs, this issue deals exclusively with Ainu design. Ungai (Nobutar›) Íno (1863-1938) was an artist and anthropologist who worked at the Tokyo Imperial University. He was the leading proponent of the Ainu theory.
